What can I do to distract myself?

So I have this habit where I pull out strands of my hair (like curly kinky hairs) I recently found it's out an anxiety/compulsion disorder and if I continue the habit could escalate and I can wind up with bald patches. So today was day one, I feel as though I want to smash something, I just want to pull my hair out sand I can't stop thinking about it. I tied my hair into a ponytail so I won't be tempted to touch but it's driving me insane!!! Any ideas of what I could do with my hands or what I can keep my self busy with is greatly appreciated
