How to get a puppy to stop biting?

Puppies nip and chew. It's how they communicate and figure out their environment. Just like a baby puts EVERYTHING in it's mouth...so do puppies. Unfortunately, puppies have razor-like little teeth. If you don't want him to bite, never, NEVER put your hand in his mouth to play or wrestle. If he starts to chew on you, substitute a chew toy, ice cube, or bully stick. If he continues, sharply say "gentle" or "no teeth", and then turn around and ignore him until he stops. When he stops for a second, say "good boy" and give him a treat. Do NOT hurt him. It'll only teach him that your hands will cause him pain and make him want to bite you or others when they offer their hands. Get a couple books on how to raise dogs. You need to understand how they think, because they don't care what you think. You're the smarter one, right?
